Caprica

Caprica differs significantly from its parent series, due to creative and commercial demands.[3] Ronald D. Moore had strong feelings on the matter, explaining his starting point was, "...you don't try to repeat the formula," and going on to say, "...everything about Caprica was designed specifically to not repeat what we had done in Galactica."[4] Although a critical success, Galactica had a predominantly male audience, and both Moore and the network felt the "war in space" backdrop was a major deterrent to female viewers.[5] With these considerations and Caprica's storyline already focused on events taking place before the two Cylon Wars, the series has a different identity, with its own tone, content, and style. While Caprica contains references that have added significance to previous Battlestar viewers, the series is intended to be accessible to new fans, and no prior knowledge of the other series is needed.[6]

No Ordinary Family

The Powells are your average American family with everyday problems. Well, that is until their plane crashes in the Amazon jungle. That's when things start to get interesting. On Tuesday, September 28, this family will go from ordinary to extraordinary!

The Event

Near the end of World War II, an aircraft of undetermined origin crashed in the Brooks Range of northern Alaska. It carried passengers who appeared outwardly human but are not of terrestrial origin. They have some genetic differences and age much more slowly than humans. Most of the survivors were captured by the U.S. government and held in a secret facility nearby run by intelligence agencies, since they have refused to disclose much about their origin. The remaining survivors, who only sustained minor injuries, were able to escape the crash scene and currently live among the population.
President Elias Martinez learns of the facility's existence shortly after his inauguration and decides, after meeting the leader of the detainees, to release them and disclose their existence to the world over the objections of the intelligence agencies. His plans are put on hold when an assassination attempt on him is foiled by means beyond human technology. The CIA, realizing that this means there are other aliens, secretly plans to find and kill them. The agent chosen to head the effort is himself an alien and that fact is unknown to the agency. The aliens are divided internally on how to respond to this.
Caught in the middle of these events is Sean Walker, whose plans to propose to his girlfriend Leila on a Caribbean cruise are cut short when she mysteriously disappears from the ship. His investigation eventually leads him to uncover the assassination plot.

All the teens know the Ripper to be dead, but they hold the belief that his soul may have reincarnated into one of their bodies, forcing them to discover who among them may be the killer. Only one of the teenagers knows the answer. Adam "Bug" Hellerman was supposed to die on the bloody night his father went insane. Unaware of his father's terrifying crimes, Bug has been plagued by nightmares since he was a baby. But if Bug hopes to save his friends from the Ripper, he must face an evil that will not rest.

Case 39

Social worker Emily Jenkins (Renée Zellweger) is assigned to investigate the family of 10-year-old Lillith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland), as her grades have declined and an emotional rift with her parents has emerged. Emily suspects that the parents have been abusing Lillith, and proposes to her department to take the child away from her parents' custody. Emily's fears are confirmed when Lillith's parents try to kill her by roasting her in the oven at their home. Emily saves Lillith with the help of Detective Mike Barron (Ian McShane). Lillith is originally sent to a children's home but she begs Emily to look after her instead. With the agreement of the board, Emily is assigned to take care of Lillith until a suitable foster family comes along. In the meantime, Lillith's parents (Callum Keith Rennie and Kerry O'Malley) are placed in a mental institution.
Not too long after Lillith moves in, strange things begin to happen around Emily. Two weeks later another of Jenkins's cases, a boy named Diego (Alexander Conti), suddenly murders his parents, and Barron informs Emily that somebody phoned Diego from her house the night before the crime. As she is suspected of involvement in the incident, Lillith undergoes a psychiatric evaluation by Emily's best friend, Douglas J. Ames (Bradley Cooper). During the session, however, Lillith turns the evaluation around, asking Douglas what his fears are and subtly threatening him. That night while studying he receives a strange phone call in his apartment, Douglas is panicked by the sight of a mass of hornets coming out of his body and kills himself in his bathroom.
Emily gradually becomes fearful of having Lillith in her home, so she heads to the mental asylum for answers from Lillith's parents. They tell her that Lillith is a demon who feeds on feelings, and that they tried to kill her in an attempt to save themselves. Lillith's father tells Emily that the only way to kill Lillith is to get her to sleep. Shortly after Emily leaves the asylum, both parents die in unusual circumstances. Lillith's mother is fatally burnt and her father is stabbed with a fork.
Barron initially thinks Emily should seek psychiatric help, but is later convinced when he receives a strange phone call in his home from Emily's cellphone, which is being used by Lillith. He arms himself at the police precinct to aid Emily in handling Lillith. However, he inadvertently shoots himself when Lillith makes him imagine he is being attacked by dogs. That night, Emily has Lillith drink tea spiked with sedative. While Lillith is asleep, Emily sets fire to her house, hoping to get rid of her. However, the girl escapes unharmed from the burning house.
The police offer to escort Emily and Lillith to a temporary place to sleep. As Emily is following the police cars, she suddenly takes a different route and drives her car at a high speed, hoping to bring fear to Lillith. She then drives the car off a pier. As the car sinks, Emily struggles to lock Lillith (now in the form of her demon self) in the trunk by folding the rear seats against her. Emily then exits the car, but as she swims away, Lillith grabs her leg after punching a hole through the car's left tail light section. Emily struggles to break free until Lillith finally lets go as the car continues to sink. She climbs back ashore, relieved to be rid of Lillith.

Let Me In (film)

In 1983 in Los Alamos, New Mexico, an ambulance is being escorted by the police to a hospital. An unidentifiable and mute man is in a hospital room being guarded by a police officer. A police detective enters the hospital and visits the suspect, tells him that he will catch whoever else is in league with him, but is then called out to the reception area by a nurse to take a phone call. While he is on the phone, a scream is heard from the suspect's room, and when the detective returns he sees that the suspect has fallen out of the window several stories to his death. Before doing so, the man scribbles a note reading, "I'm Sorry Abby."
Flashback to two weeks earlier, Owen is a very unhappy and lonely 12-year-old child, who is neglected by his divorcing parents (who no longer live together) and continually harassed by bullies at his school. While peering at neighbors from his bedroom window with a telescope, he notices a girl named Abby and a man who appears to be her father moving in next door. Abby reluctantly becomes Owen's friend after telling him that they can't be friends, but won't tell him why. Abby and Owen grow closer and closer, hanging out late at night and developing feelings for one another. Abby claims and appears to be 12-years-old. During school Owen writes down the Morse code alphabet for he and Abby to use to communicate to each other through their walls. He encounters the bullies in the bathroom between classes, and Jimmy (the main bully) scars his face with an antenna rod he carries around with him. Owen meets Abby later that night and gives her and explains the system of Morse code. Abby then notices his band aid covering his cut and tells Owen he needs to hit back, and she will help him if needed. Owen scoffs and says that she's just a girl, but Abby assures him that she is stronger than she looks.
Meanwhile, Abby's Father/Protector periodically goes out at night to kill local residents so that he can bring their blood back to Abby, as blood is the only thing she can survive on. His first attempt is successful in getting a victim at a gas station, and stringing him upside down in the snowy woods, but when he is collecting the blood, his leg falls through thin ice and spills all the blood. In a panic from an oncoming car, he flees the scene, returning home to Abby with nothing. Abby, furious that he returns empty handed, goes outside and tricks a neighbor jogging by pretending to be hurt and kills him for blood. She quickly snaps his neck after biting him. On the other hand, Abby continues developing her emotional relationship with Owen by using his Morse code to communicate with him by tapping on the wall from her apartment: we see that Abby rudely tells her Protector to get out of the living room and leave her alone, so that she can use the wall to send the coded messages to Owen in privacy. The Father/Protector meekly cooperates and goes to another room, and we see that Abby has considerable power over her Protector and that she can be demanding. At some point, the Father/Protector asks Abby to stop talking to Owen, and his behavior reveals signs of jealousy that they may have more of a relationship than fully expained, but Abby gently touches his face, alleviating his fears of abandonment, but not expressly telling him that she will not see Owen anymore. He Acts taken aback by this, slamming his tools into his bag. One night The Protector goes out and picks a car at the local high school that he can hide in until the owner returns, although when the owner returns a friend is with him which complicates matters. They stop at a gas station and when the passenger notices The Protector in the backseat, the passenger is attacked and killed, but not before The Protector attempts to drive away and rolls down an embankment on the side of the road. Fearing that his identity will be discovered, The Protector douses his face with acid so that his connection to Abby will not be discovered by the police. The Protector is taken to the hospital with a police officer posted outside his room, and when Abby hears on the news that he is there, she goes to visit him by climbing up the side of the hospital wall outside his window. Abby is stricken with grief over what happened to The Protector and to put him out of his misery, Abby kills him by sucking his blood after The Protector implores her to do so, and he falls out the window to his death.
Abby is traumatized and confused by the loss of her Protector. She goes to Owens bedroom window and while he is asleep, she asks him if she can come in. Owen allows her into his room, and he asks her to go steady and be his girlfriend. She rejects him first, but when Owen tells her that nothing will change between them, she accepts. As the friendship between the Owen and Abby deepens, the police detective gradually learns of The Protector's past and how his connection to Abby. The next day on a field trip at school, Owen stands up to Jimmy and hits him with a pole in the head, splitting his ear badly. When Owen tells Abby about his encounter that night, Abby leans down and kisses him lightly on the cheek. He then takes her down to an abandoned area of the complex as a surprise. Owen is certain the adults have no idea about it. He wants to surprise her and implores that she closes her eyes, he cuts his finger to make a blood pact with her. Abby is taken aback by the blood falling to the ground from his finger and drops to the ground to lick up his blood. She looks up and Owen is able to see her true vampiric face, not wanting to attack Owen. Abby runs from Owen and attacks a woman in the complex park named Virginia. Abby bites Virginia's neck and tries to drink her blood, but shes pushed and chased off by Virginia's boyfriend, Larry.
Owen comes to terms that Abby is a vampire, and still likes her the same, as she is able to provide the affection he could not find in the human society. He goes to her apartment and stays the night there. As Owen looks through Abby's belongings, it becomes clear from the ancient photos that the middle-aged man who was protecting her was not her father, but that many years ago, he once was a young man who became her friend. At the hospital the next morning, the police detective learns from Larry that the girl who attacked Virginia in the complex matches the description of Abby. A few seconds later, Virginia, unaware she is a vampire now, begins to feed on the Blood in her arm from her IV. She bursts into flames when a nurse opens the blinds in the morning daylight, burning them both alive. The police detective heads to The Protector's and Abby's apartment and busts down the door, unaware that Owen is there. The police detective finds Abby in the bathroom and tries to shine the daylight to see, but Owen stops him and gets his attention. Abby then awakens and kills the police detective in the bathroom, he reaches his hand out to Owen for help but Owen simply closes the door in shock. Abby afterward embraces Owen softly, and he leans into her hold. She lightly kisses him on the lips. Abby tells Owen she needs to leave the town and start over somewhere else. Owen is devastated at the loss of her and cries looking out the window periodically, after watching her enter a cab and pull away.
At school during gym class, Owen's teacher tells Owen he will be swimming that day, and is shown to tutor Owen how to breathe properly while swimming. Jimmy, his friends, and his older brother, start a fire outside to distract the teacher. Once the teacher is gone, the bullies turn out the lights and clear out the swimming pool. Owen realizes what is happening, and runs to his locker. He pulls out a very small knife, which he uses to defend himself against the bullies, but it doesn't work. Jimmy proceeds to threaten Owens' life. The boy tells Owen that if he can survive underwater for three minutes, then all he'll do is to cut Owen's cheek, if he can't, then Owen will have one of his eyes cut out. Owen is held underwater by Jimmy's brother and struggles to hold his breath. A minute goes by and Jimmy believes Owen has learned his lesson, and encourages his brother to stop, but is pushed back by his brother. This time Owen is facing death by drowning, but he notices something happening above the water, when suddenly blood starts to fill the pool, followed by screams and the head of Jimmy's brother. Owen pulls himself to the surface and sees blood and body parts of the bullies thrown around the pool: Abby has returned to save him as she promised.
Sometime later, Owen is on a train, getting his ticket punched. The ticket checker looks down at Owen's feet and notices a large chest and asks if it is his. Owen replies it is and the man moves on. Then from the chest comes k-i-s-s tapped out in Morse Code, which Owen gently taps back.

Devil (Film)

The film begins with a worker committing suicide by jumping from a building. The scene is narrated by Ramirez (Jacob Vargas) who mentions that his mother told him stories of the Devil roaming the earth, and it always begins with a suicide. Detective Bowden (Chris Messina) is called to the scene to aid in the investigation. Bowden is a recovering alcoholic devastated by the death of his wife and child in a hit-and-run accident by a driver who was never caught. As this is happening, five strangers, who have committed various crimes in the past, step onto an elevator located within the same building where the suicide has taken place.
The five strangers are Ben (Bokeem Woodbine), a temp security guard with a violent past; an elderly woman (Jenny O'Hara) who is a kleptomaniac; Vince (Geoffrey Arend), a mattress salesman who moonlights as a con artist; Tony (Logan Marshall-Green), a former mechanic who served in the U.S. marine corps during the War in Afghanistan who is now seeking employment within the building; and Sarah (Bojana Novakovic), a blackmailing gold-digger meeting with her lawyer in the building.
Strange things start to occur beginning with the elevator becoming stuck between floors. Then, after the lights go out, Sarah is inexplicably wounded on her back. The remaining occupants of the elevator quickly begin to suspect Vince of having committed the assault. Slowly, one by one, the five strangers start to die. First, Vince is killed by a shard of glass from a mirror which slices his jugular vein. Detective Bowden, sensing a connection between this and the man who earlier committed suicide in the same building, is compelled to further investigate. Checking the building's guest log, Bowden finds that only four people have missed their scheduled appointments that day: Sarah, Vince, Ben, and “Janecowski”. Investigators misinterpret the latter as “Jane Cowski” and assume it to be the old woman’s name, leaving Bowden suspicious of Tony who appears to be the only undocumented occupant.
With the help of the building’s security team, Bowden examines security footage and discovers that the old woman had stolen a wallet prior to entering the elevator. The office building's repairman is sent down the elevator shaft to fix it, but plummets to his death. During a power outage, the old woman is found hung by the neck from an electrical cord. Sarah and Ben turn on Tony, while Bowden begins to suspect that Sarah's husband has hired Ben to kill her. A security guard inspects the basement and electrocutes himself attempting to secure a hot fallen wire. The lights go out again and Ben is dead with his neck completely twisted around. Each thinking the other must be responsible for the murders, Tony and Sarah prepare to fight each other with broken glass, but Bowden seemingly manages to calm them. As Sarah prepares to take out a shard of glass hidden in her back pocket, the lights once again go out and her throat is slashed. The mystery seems solved, when a tattooed woman arrives and informs Bowden that Tony is her fiance, and was at the building for a job interview. Only then is his full name revealed to be Tony Janecowski.
The old woman suddenly rises and appears behind Tony. It is now apparent that she is the Devil who has taken a human form. Having dispensed of the others, the Devil tells Tony it's his turn to die. Detective Bowden watches through the CCTV as Tony confesses to killing two people in a drunken hit-and-run accident. Tony had been trying to grab another beer while driving and had not seen where he was going. Tony says "I'm so sorry," and Bowden had a car wash coupon that says "I'm so sorry" on the back. At which point the Devil is forced to spare him (as he confessed his sin and apologized for it) and disappears as the firemen finish breaking into the elevator. Detective Bowden realizes Tony is the one who killed his wife and son, but expresses his forgiveness en route to the police station following his arrest.
The film ends with Ramirez telling the audience that his mother always reassured him at the end of her stories, "If the Devil is real, God must also be real."

Jonah Hex

Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone... and anything. Having survived death, Jonah's violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the "other side." His only human connection is with Leila (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. But Jonah's past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can't refuse: in exchange for his freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich). But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah's oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead. Early rumors emerged about a zombie army or Quentin trying to rewin the war, but these were dismissed when producers said "Quentin is more of a terrorist upset about the outcome of the war not someone trying to fight and rewin it."

Cast

  • Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex: A disfigured bounty hunter. Prior to Brolin's casting, actor Thomas Jane petitioned the studio for the role, hiring a makeup artist to give him the appearance of Jonah Hex. Brolin initially hated the script, but changed his mind, growing to like its tongue-in-cheek tone.
  • John Malkovich as Quentin Turnbull: The film's antagonist.

Fassbender likens his character to that of The Riddler and Malcolm McDowell's performance in A Clockwork Orange but mainly said he found his character when he tried on the derby bowler.
  • Will Arnett as Lieutenant Grass, a Union soldier who enlists Jonah Hex as a bounty hunter.
Lance Reddick was seen in the trailer as an armourer of sorts who supplies Hex with his new weapons.

Flashfoward

A mysterious event causes nearly everyone on the planet to simultaneously lose consciousness for 137 seconds, during which people see what appear to be visions of their lives approximately six months in the future—a global “flashforward”. A team of Los Angeles FBI agents, led by Stanford Wedeck (Vance) and spearheaded by Mark Benford (Fiennes) and his partner Demetri Noh (Cho), begin the process of determining what happened, why, and whether it will happen again. Benford contributes a unique perspective on the investigation; in his flashforward, he saw the results of six months of investigation that he had done on the flashforward event, and he and his team use those clues to recreate the investigation.
The team investigates a number of events related to the flashforward, including "Suspect Zero", who did not lose consciousness during the event, the sinister "D. Gibbons", and a similar mass loss of consciousness in Somalia in 1991. Meanwhile, personal revelations contained within the flashforwards occupy the personal lives of the principal characters. Mark Benford sees his alcoholism relapsing, his wife sees herself with another man, Demetri Noh sees nothing which could mean he will not be alive to see the day of events everyone else has witnessed or possibly that his future wasn't set on the day of the flashforward. Other characters grapple with similarly unexpected or surprising revelations in their flashforwards.

The Karate Kid (2010 film)

The plot bears many similarities to the original Karate Kid film, with some notable differences. Twelve year old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) is the most popular kid in Detroit until he and his single mother (Taraji P. Henson) move because of a pivotal career change made by his mother. In their new home of Beijing, Parker falls for a young school student named Mei Ying. Both children find it hard to form a solid friendship with each other because of their cultural differences and because Ying's father does not approve of their relationship. To make matters worse, this attraction makes him the enemy of the infamous bully leader, Cheng, who gives Parker the nickname of 'The Karate Kid' due to his severely limited knowledge of Karate, hence the title of the film.
With the bullies constantly throwing him to the ground, and with no one else to turn to, the outlook for Parker's new life looks bleak until he meets Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who makes a deal with the bullies' kung-fu master that if they let Dre train they can fight Dre in the upcoming tournament. A quirky mentor and a Kung-Fu master in secret, Mr. Han teaches Parker Kung-Fu through unconventional, yet effective techniques to help make life in his new home an easier affair and hopefully stand up to the bullies. It involves training in places such as the Great Wall of China. The entire plot eventually builds up to a grand finale with Dre Parker battling against Cheng and his allies in a large scale Martial Arts Tournament.

Survival of the Dead

Survival of the Dead takes place in a desperate, nightmarish world where the dead walk the earth, relentlessly attacking the living. It is the story of Plum Island - a beautiful refuge whose isolation allows two powerful families to maintain a semblance of order in the wake of the zombie apocalypse. But as the inhabitants slowly die off, the two clans become sharply divided: The O'Flynns believe that the undead must be destroyed without exception, while the Muldoons insist that afflicted loved ones be kept "alive" until a cure is found. Into this situation wander a small group of National Guard troops who, after robbing the protagonists of the previous film, have decided to strike out on their own in an effort to survive.

Shrek Forever After

After all of his adventures, Shrek (Mike Myers) has become a domesticated family ogre. Instead of scaring villagers away as he used to, Shrek agrees to autograph pitchforks. Longing for the days when he felt like a "real ogre", Shrek is tricked into signing a pact with the smooth-talking deal maker, Rumpelstiltskin (Walt Dohrn). Shrek couldn't resist the offer; all he wanted was a day off to relax, to be a real ogre again, and Rumpelstiltskin said he would give Shrek one day where none of his adventures had ever happened and everything would be like it was before - all Shrek had to trade him to get a day off was one day from his own life. Then Rumpelstiltskin tricked Shrek and the day he took out of Shrek's life was the day that he was born—meaning that (since Shrek was never born) he never existed, thus creating a time paradox. Shrek finds himself in a alternate version of Far Far Away: Rumpelstiltskin is king; ogres are hunted to near-extinction; Donkey is an intellectual who has never met Shrek, is forced into cart-pulling duty and fears him; Gingy is a gladiator fighting animal crackers; Puss in Boots is fat and lazy; Fiona is a hunted ogre who never met (and can't stand) Shrek, and is the leader of a band of other hunted ogres. Artie (Justin Timberlake) has been forced to step down as ruler of Far Far Away. But if Shrek shares "True Love's Kiss" with Fiona by the sunrise of the next day, the true timeline will be restored---and Artie will be restored as to his rightful position as the only true heir to Far Far Away, but if Shrek does not make it, then by the time the day is up, Shrek will disappear (due to him never being born), and Rumpelstiltskin has sent out an army of witches to stop him.

Kick-Ass

Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a typical teenage boy, wonders why no one has ever decided to become a real-life superhero like the heroes in the comic books. His friends at a comic book store told him that if anyone did become a superhero, they would get their ass kicked. Dave fails at his first attempt to fight crime, he is beaten, stabbed, and hit by a car. He convinces paramedics to say nothing of his costume and pretends he was brought in naked. In hospital for several weeks he is left with metal holding his bones together which he says makes him look like Wolverine. He has also suffered nerve damage which gives him an above average ability to take a beating. When he returns to school, his longtime crush, Katie Deauxma (Lyndsy Fonseca), seems more interested in him. His friends explain she thinks he is gay and wants to take care of him. Lizewski goes along with this in an effort to spend time with her.

Dave remains undeterred by his earlier setback, and ends up intervening in a gang fight outside a diner. Dressed in costume and using two modified night-sticks, he fights off three men. As the fight ends, a man who has been recording the event on his phone, asks Dave who he is, and he replies: "I'm Kick-Ass". The video is posted on the internet and soon becomes an internet phenomenon, making Kick-Ass an overnight sensation.
As Kick-Ass, Dave sets up a MySpace account, so people can contact him for help and is overwhelmed with responses. While spending time with Katie, she admits she was being harassed by a lowlife drug dealer, and Lizewski convinces her to ask Kick-Ass for help. He investigates and ends up in an apartment full of violent lowlifes who try to kill him. He is rescued by a costumed, sword-wielding young girl named Hit-Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz), who kills all the attackers and then leaves to join her father, Damon Macready (Nicolas Cage), whose alias is Big Daddy. Hit-Girl (Mindy Macready) jumps across the rooftops and tells Kick-Ass to follow her, but he is afraid to jump, so they leave without him. Later Kick-Ass is visited at home by Hit-Girl and Big Daddy who have tracked him from his MySpace account. Hit-Girl and Big Daddy inform Kick-Ass that they can work together, and should he need help then he should set his MySpace status to "on vacation" and they will arrange a visit.

Meanwhile, local crime syndicate leader Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong) hears of the deaths of many of his men, with many people believing that the new star, Kick-Ass, is responsible. In searching for Kick-Ass, D'Amico kills an impersonator who he believes is actually Kick-Ass. Running out of ideas, his son, Chris (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) offers a new idea. Chris' idea involves him becoming the new superhero Red Mist, and enticing Kick-Ass into meeting him. At first, Red Mist attempts to lead Kick-Ass to a warehouse to be killed. They arrive at the warehouse to find it is on fire, and the men are dead. Red Mist retrieves secret surveillance footage and it is clear that Kick-Ass is not responsible for the attacks. Red Mist asks Kick-Ass to call upon the help of Hit-Girl and Big Daddy, and they arrange to meet at a safe house. Red Mist has led his father's gang right to them. As soon as they arrive, Hit-Girl is sitting on a window ledge and Red Mist shoots her, propelling her out of the window and on to the floor below. Kick-Ass and Big Daddy are captured and taken to a warehouse where the gangsters stage an internet broadcast where they intend to unmask and execute the heroes. Severely beaten and about to be set on fire, the lights are shot out and Hit-Girl starts a gun battle, killing off the villains, but a fire starts and Big Daddy is badly burnt. Before the battle concludes, he dies of his injuries. Kick-Ass tries to convince Hit-Girl to quit, but she is determined not to allow the death of her parents to be in vain and makes one last assault on the headquarters of Frank D'Amico.

Hit-Girl enters the building D'Amico is situated in and while posing as a lost schoolgirl, quickly disposes of the guards on the ground floor and moves to the elevator (where she suits up). Upon arrival, she quickly disposes of the majority of the guards, but runs out of ammunition and is forced to take cover in D'Amico's kitchen. Not willing to risk their lives with a direct confrontation with Hit-Girl, one of the henchmen grabs a bazooka stolen from Big Daddy's safe house earlier and prepares to fire, just as Kick-Ass shows up from outside the hotel with a jetpack with two Gatling guns, and opens fire on the henchmen (This is the first time Kick-Ass kills someone). After disposing of them, Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl move into D'Amico's office, and two separate fights ensue between Kick-Ass and Red Mist, and Hit-Girl and Frank D'Amico. While Kick-Ass and Red Mist fight until they knock each other out, Hit-Girl is overwhelmed by the older and stronger D'Amico. As D'Amico is about to shoot Hit-Girl, Kick-Ass appears with the bazooka from earlier and blasts D'Amico out the window, where he explodes in mid-air. Red Mist recovers and grabs his father's sword only to discover that Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl are already leaving. They tell each other their names and say goodbye.
Both Hit-Girl and Kick-Ass retire from crime fighting, with Mindy living a normal life and attending the same school as Dave. Another wave of superheroes have been inspired by his exploits. Red Mist is shown donning a new mask and swearing vengeance, saying "Wait 'til they get a load of me".

How to Train Your Dragon

Hiccup (Jay Baruchel), is the son of the Chief, Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler), on the island of Berk. Hiccups village is constantly plagued by “pests” in the form of various dragons, who raid the village and steal their stock of sheep. Hiccup, unable to combat the dragons instead works as an apprentice to iron smith, Gobber the Belch (Craig Ferguson).

One night during a dragon raid, Hiccup pulls out a launching contraption in an attempt to prove himself and kill the never-before-seen Night Fury dragon. He hits it, but nobody else in the village is around to see it. Attempting to get proof, Hiccup travels into the forest where the dragon may have fallen. He comes to a small canyon and sees the elusive Night Fury, tangled in his net. After struggling with himself, Hiccup can’t bring himself to kill the helpless dragon and sets him free. The dragon immediately pounces on Hiccup, aggressively sizing him up, then flees.

Back at the village, Stoick, with the insistence of Gobber enrolls Hiccup into dragon fighting class with the other Viking youth of age: Astrid (America Ferrera), Snotlout (Jonah Hill), Fishlegs (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), and the twins Tuffnut and Ruffnut(a boy and a girl) (T. J. Miller and Kristen Wiig). Meanwhile Stoic leaves with a search party of Vikings to find the Dragon’s Nest, in order to wipe them out and finish the apparent war. The first day of dragon training goes as expected for Hiccup, he’s outmatched and lacking confidence. After being told that dragons are vicious and always go for the “kill shot”, Hiccup curiously returns to the canyon. The Night Fury, still inexplicably trapped in the canyon again allows Hiccup to watch him. Hiccup then notices that the dragon is missing a tail wing from the previous crash landing, leaving him unable to fly properly.

After realizing that he can befriend the dragon by giving him fish, Hiccup decides to start observing Toothless. Hiccup eventually fashions an artificial tail wing with a saddle, enabling Toothless to fly, but only with Hiccups aid. Meanwhile, back in Hiccup's dragon fighting classes, Hiccup begins to have great success. Using the observations from Toothless, Hiccup manages to have superior control over every dragon in training to the amazement of everyone and the chagrin of Astrid who becomes immediately suspicious. Meanwhile, Astrid begins to get jealous of Hiccup's success and suspicious of his escapes into the forest to see Toothless.
When Stoick and his army return they are bruised and battered, coming back with only one ship, nowhere close to having found the nest. His spirits are lifted however, when Gobber and others begind congratulating him on Hiccup's success in dragon training. Feeling a chance to bond with his son, Stoick happily honors Hiccup with his own Viking helmet (made from the other half of his mothers breastplace, Stoick has the other). Since Hiccup is in good standing to be the top of the class and have the honor of slaying a dragon, he begins to feel torn for his friendship with Toothless and the chance to make his father proud.
Hiccup crumbles to the pressure and decides to leave Berk with Toothless. Astrid follows him to their hideout and discovers Hiccup's friendship with the dragon. She tries to run back to the village, but Toothless kidnaps her and Hiccup asks for a chance to explain. They take her for a ride and Astrid begins to see how amazing dragons really are as well as Hiccup's extraordinary talents. During their flight, they get caught in a herd of dragons carrying food and follow them to their nest. There, they discover that the dragons steal food to feed a much larger and more threatening dragon that eats them if they do not provide enough food. After they leave, Astrid wants to inform the village of the nest's location, but Hiccup decides against it in order to protect Toothless and Astrid agrees to keep quiet.

The next day, during Hiccup's battle with the Nightmare, he throws down his weapons, saying he's not one of them and tries to show everyone that dragons are not as bad as they seem. Stoick shouts to stop the battle before Hiccup can continue, and the Nightmare attacks Hiccup in reaction to Stoick's rage. Meanwhile, Toothless hears Hiccup scream from his hiding place on the island and races off to Berk to save him. Just before the Nightmare can finish Hiccup off, Toothless comes in and defeats the Nightmare.
Hiccup pleads Toothless to flee, but he ignores him, fearing that the other Vikings pose a threat to Hiccup. Toothless almost kills Stoick, but Hiccup begs him to stop, and Toothless immediately becomes more docile. In this peaceful state, Toothless is quickly overpowered and captured. Stoick confronts his son angrily at learning about his son's friendship with a dragon. Hiccup accidentally tells him that he has been to the nest, and Stoick decides to use Toothless to lead them there. Hiccup begs him not to hurt Toothless and warns them of the giant dragon that they likely stand no chance against, but Stoick ignores him.
The Vikings set sail with Toothless chained. Back at Berk, Astrid comforts Hiccup and asks him what he is going to do. Hiccup decides to use the dragons that the Vikings use for dragon fighting practice to fly to the nest. Meanwhile, Astrid has gathered Tuffnut, Ruffnut, Fishlegs and Snotlout to help. Each mount on the dragons and set off after the Vikings.

As the other Vkings arrive, they prepare for battle, but all the dragons flee the island. Stoick discovers the even bigger dragon, Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus, which sets all of the boats on fire, including the one Toothless is chained up on. Hiccup and the others arrive, and while he goes to free Toothless, the others try to learn of any blind spots or shot limits of the giant dragon. The boat collapses and Toothless sinks, still chained. Hiccup tries to free him but nearly drowns. Stoick saves his son and jumps back in to save Toothless. Hiccup and Toothless then lead the giant dragon into the air and shoot at its wings. They then dive into the ground and set fire to the dragon's insides. The giant dragon tries to pull up, but the shots fired previously have torn holes in his wings, sending him crashing into the ground and exploding in a thunderous inferno. After crashing into the bigger dragon's tail, Hiccup is knocked out and falls off Toothless and into the fire. Toothless dives in to save him, despite his saddle damaged and artificial tail destroyed. Stoick searches the rubble for his son and only finds Toothless. At first everyone thinks Hiccup died in the fire but Toothless reveals that he had wrapped Hiccup up in his wings to shield him.

Hiccup reawakens in his home and finds Toothless by his bedside. He also finds that his left foot had been lost in the battle with the giant dragon, replaced with a spring loaded prosthetic by Gobber using the boy's designs. With Toothless' help, Hiccup slowly makes his way outside and sees that Vikings have invited dragons into the village and are constructing shelters and giant feeding bowls for them. Everyone welcomes Hiccup back as a hero. Astrid then appears and kisses Hiccup. Hiccup is then given new equipment for Toothless built by Gobber. Hiccup and Astrid ride their dragons through the newly reformed Berk as the alliance between the Vikings and dragons begins.
